After settling into Glenbervie’s Bridal Suite, The Princess Royal transcended the grand staircase where she was met formally by Steven McLeod and Ian Robertson, Chairman of the Princess’ Trust.
During the informal drinks reception the Princess was able to mingle with the 19 distinguished guests including Stirling’s Lord Provost.
Steven McLeod, addressing Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal at dinner said “I would like to take this opportunity to personally welcome you to Glenbervie House Hotel and say it is a great honour and privilege to host and support this very special evening in aid of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers.
Before we commence this evening I would like to thank Sarah McNeil and Sarah Crosthwaite, two exceptional students from Larbert High School for their musical contribution to our reception this evening.
This evening allows us an intimate opportunity in the presence of Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal where together we can be introduced to and recognise so much more of the amazing and life changing work that has been carried out by the trust, making a real difference to the lives of carers”.
McLeod then invited The Princess Royal to speak about the work of her Trust.
The Princess Royal commented “It is a great privilege to be at this new venture hotel, and thank you, Steven, for your support and very kind gesture of allowing us to use your wonderful facilities” She went on to discuss elements of the charity and the work of unpaid carers across the United Kingdom.
Ian Robertson, Chairman of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, during the closing speeches said Glenbervie was “A truly magnificent venue, with world class food, service and surroundings”
During the evening guests enjoyed a Dom Perignon Champagne Reception followed by salmon & caviar, Balmoral Venison, home made desserts followed by fine Scottish Cheeses. The Menu will now feature on the Hotels Menu’s giving guests the opportunity to enjoy a taste of what Royalty enjoyed at Glenbervie.
On Tuesday Morning at 9.30 the Princess Royal was escorted by Steven McLeod to the Queens Flight and thanked both for the hospitality extended. The Princess Royal remarked that she looked forward to returning to Glenbervie in the future – and that her stay had been extremely comfortable and relaxing. Making a joke about her room, she commented that next time she stays a room with a regular bath-tub would be nice, as the swimming pool sized Jacuzzi in the Bridal Suite was a bit big for one person!
As the Queens Flight, bound for Kirkintilloch, rose from the Glenbervie Estate the Princess Royal waved back at the Evening’s Hosts.
Glenbervie House Hotel is known for its support for local and national charities and throughout the course of the year various charity events are held to facilitate networking, fund raising and increasing awareness of the works of so many charities.

Larbert High School
Glenbervie House Hotel is proud to be partnered with Larbert High School. A provider of education to almost 2000 students in the area, Glenbervie is fortunate to have many students from the School working in the Hotel. On Monday evening, local school pupils who work at the hotel had the privilege of serving HRH The Princess Royal.
During the Champagne Reception, music was provided by two of the School’s students, Sarah MacNeil, playing Clarsach and Sarah Crosthwaite, playing Cello. We are extremely proud of their efforts and extend our sincere gratitude to Larbert High School, and the two ladies.
